I admire the way you both are perfect match for each other... with the same kind of thoughts and tastes.. ever present for each other... through all the ups and downs..
I remember the time during Raji's wedding... When you were on the mandapam and Amma entered into the wedding hall wearing the voilet pattu sari... The way your eyes lit up at the sight of her... the expression of love on both of your faces... and the way Amma blushed when we all teased you both with the song:


Bholi si surat aankhon mein masti dur khadi sharmaaye..

I can never ever forget that!

A year since...

A year since we both signed our names next to each other at the registrar office... Exactly a year!

A decision that has changed our lives forever! 

My new machine!!!

Whole of June has been a vacation from my blog! :)

A lot to be said about my past month... If I say that there was no time for blogging then I would be lying... If I say that I did not find any moment worthy enough to be blogged then I would be lying too! :) 

All I can say is: I was getting adjusted to the new life... Physically being so far away from my family... but that got compensated by being with this one single soul who has become my life now. How things change... priorities change... to ensure that the special someone is given the best of everything! My life seems to revolve around this one person as though he is the sun and I am the earth doing rounds around him! :)

Since last Friday, my focus has been shifted to one other thing. My new sewing machine!!! This is the first time I am seeing a machine with a digital display to select the stitch. It has 50 stitches. And you know what's the best thing about it?? The way it stitches the buttonholes. Everything in a single-step... All I have to do is to select the stitch and press the foot controller. I simply love it!

V gifted me this machine and I told myself that the first thing that I would stitch out of this machine would be for V. I have stitched him an apron and he seems to like it...!

I do not have many colors of threads for sewing. I am yet to buy them and I also need a good pair of scissors. Got to buy them soon! :)

So, I have got one more topic to blog about and  bore you (as though I haven't bored you enough!! :D) You may see more of my sewing and crafting projects on my blog soon! :)

Statelessness of Life...

Last half a year has been a roller-coaster ride of emotions and feelings... Love, Hatred, Trust, Betrayal, Care, Understanding, Ruthlessness, Sacrifice, Envy, Joy, Sorrow, Innocence, Anger, Patience, Grief, Excitement, Tolerance, Loneliness, Friendship, Enmity, Contentment, Mischief, Fulfillment...

Every second of life seems to be a mystery taking unexpected twists and turns. Whoa! What a life!

"Are you enjoying?" you may ask. My answer will solely depend on the kind of feelings that I am undergoing at that moment of time. Sometimes I feel like banging my head to the wall, at other times, I feel like running away and at other times, I simply wish the time stops and let this feeling continue...

"You are so unpredictable!" you may comment... I may retort back saying, "What is predictable? At least not this life... Not my life with V!!!"

Oh! It's exactly six(read that as 'sweet-six') months since we lost our Bachelor's(Spinster's) degree!

Knotty Tidbits: 3

Title: Toe Rings!

 

An Indian Bride or a married Indian woman has to put on a lot of new things and it is considered inauspicious for her husband if she removes her mangalasutra or toe-rings or bindi. I will not bore you any more with the Indian traditions, instead let us get along with today's tidbit!! :-)

 

On my wedding day, V put the toe-rings on my toes... Three on my right toes and three on my left... A new bride is supposed to put on all the three pairs of toe-rings for 2 1/2 months after marriage and then she can remove 2 pairs but she has to wear one pair of toe-rings for the rest of her life!!!

 

The toe-rings were huge, made of silver and quite heavy. They were more like finger-rings with pointed cone in the middle... From the moment I had them on, I found it very difficult to walk... I had to drag my feet while holding my toe-rings tightly... They were a little loose and were bound to slip off easily... Or they would turn around with the pointed cone going under my toe and pricking my toe when I put forth my footsteps...

 

With all this and me in my bridal attire, we had to walk down the mandapam, walk out into the sunshine for Surya-namaskaram. V was walking ahead oblivious to all my trouble... I was trying hard to match to his speed of walking but could not... Normally, I could have called out to him or rather shouted out his name asking him to walk along with me... But it was my wedding day and a bride is supposed to be demure, shy and vulnerable... All I could do was hiss his name and hope that he has heard me...

 

V's Jijaaji (brother-in-law) must have observed all this. He came to my rescue. He went near V, asked him to wait and told him to walk like a bridegroom, hand-in-hand with the bride (that's me!) This is what I imagined Jijaaji tell V: "What are you running away from? You are not going to catch a bus or train? Walk slowly!"

 

Much later, in Bekal, I lost one of the toe-rings at the beach and I was very upset and was wondering what my mother-in-law would think about me... So, I dragged V to a jewellery shop and made him buy me a smaller/thinner toe-ring for the third toe from the big toe... I was dreading the time that I would face my mother-in-law to tell her of the lost toe-ring... And guess what? She scolded me... not for losing the toe-ring... but for buying that extra pair of toe-rings!!! She said as long as I have one pair of toe-rings intact, it is enough!!!

I have now changed into a thinner and lighter pair of toe-rings that don't hurt me anymore...! And V is relieved as he need not listen to any more complaints about the toe-rings hampering my walking pace!!! We can continue to on long walks in peace!

Legally Married :)

I was supposed to post this on February 11th, but it's better late than never... And so this post is here on the 11th!!!

I am all smiles today cause got the opportunity to marry my hubby once again! ah, yes! We went to the sub-registrar's office to get our wedding registered under the Hindu Marriage Act. And so, now we have two dates to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary! Great, no?

My best friend is getting married!!! Wow! I feel so pleased, happy and excited. I am jumping with joy... And this news is doubly-delightful because I hear it on the 4-month anniversary of my wedding...

I am so damn happy for you dear. Falling in love and marrying your love... This is the best thing that can happen to anyone...

This is the occasion to disclose the dream that I got about him long long time back. Okay Mandu, don't get angry! I really have to reveal it! ;-)

I dreamt that all of our friends had decided to play a game. Each person has to do something to shock the rest of the persons. The person who does the best is the winner. And I vividly remember what our Mandu did to shock us. Well, some part of it is censored. So, I won't write about it. To summarize the whole thing, what our Mandu did, was to arrange the stage ready for a wedding ritual and he actually got married and that was his act to shock us. I felt bad (in my dream) that he did not even bother to inform the wedding date earlier. It was indeed a weird way to shock us!!! Now in a way my dream has come true! Mandu, you shocked me with this pleasant surprise ;-)
